I-Shift is an automated gearbox with a manual function fitted to Volvo trucks. This system was developed by Volvo Group engineers and has been in use since 2001. The I-Shift double-clutch transmission, a version with double clutch, was then developed based on this model in 2014. Due to the reduction gears, I-Shift ensures reliable starting, even with a fully loaded vehicle. In addition, the load on the clutch is reduced by 75%. In addition, fuel consumption is improved. The manual shift option allows effective use of engine torque depending on road conditions. Switching to manual mode is done by moving the shift lever to the position marked “M”. The gear can be shifted up and down using the “+” and “-” buttons on the shift lever.
